During a virtual sign at the K&S WrestleFest, Attitude Era star Gangrel said that he wanted another match with Hall of Famer Edge. The Rated-R Superstar was a henchman to the Vampire Warrior throughout 1998 and the first half of 1999 before the Brood split and Gangrel recruited future E&C rivals The Hardy Boyz.
Former WWE Superstar Gangrel Wants Another Match Against Edge Before an Expected Rated-R Retirement
The way that storylines went at the time, Gangrel wasn’t going to be stories as a focal character after the feud. Instead, Edge, Christian, and the Hardy Boyz would before heavily featured superstars during the Attitude Era.
Edge would defeat Gangrel in a Bloodmatch match in a July 1999 WWE RAW while Gangrel got a DQ win over his former charge in January 2000. When it was the best period to run an Edge-Gangrel storyline, there was a lot happening on WWE television—not so much that a brief program between the two couldn’t be squeezed in but the company had its plans.
It would be hard to put something together for this match unless it’s more of a “This is Your Life” deal. However, Gangrel looks at another, final match between them with more significance:
“I started there with him, I’d like to finish it with him, the Gangrel character. The vampire character started in Puerto Rico, but Gangrel [in] WWE, what everybody knows me as, I think I would like to do one more match with Edge. That would be cool.”
Gangrel last wrestled the company on a December 2007 battle royal for the 15th anniversary of WWE RAW.
