While WWE’s battle with Major League Wrestling might go more favorably for them, a case that didn’t go that way is the Florida traffic incident from 2019. A Tampa jury found that WWE was responsible for the accident and was ordered the pay $331,800.
WWE Loses Traffic Accident Trial and Most Pay Over $331K to Man Hit by Van While Riding a Bike
The victim in this 2019 accident was Jackson Parsons who had been hit by WWE prop expert Gaitan Thomas. According to the recollection of that day, Thomas was driving a van rented by WWE on company time when he hit Parsons who was riding a bike.
In his 2021 lawsuit, Parsons stated that he had suffered physical, emotional, and financial trauma. Because he wasn’t in the physical shape to work, his funds weren’t as plentiful. In his lawsuit, Parsons would also note roughly how much he stood to loose as a result.
The jury decided that while WWE was neglectful in this case, Jackson Parsons held 65-percent of the responsibility here. As mentioned above, Parsons was awarded $331,800 but was seeking $401,500 for future pain and suffering as well as $76,500 for the pain and suffering, inconvenience, and mental anguish experienced now.
To a degree this was a victory for WWE which was deemed to be only 35-percent responsible and only paid the larger chunk of what Parsons was seeking.
