When it comes to female powerhouses in WWE history, Rhea Ripley has some tight competition in the past. She often finds herself compared to WWE Hall of Famer Chyna – which is something Ripley welcomes.
One of the biggest accomplishments that Chyna had in her WWE career was becoming the WWE Intercontinental Champion – and Ripley would love to repeat that, even if it meant wrestling The Ring General himself.
Rhea Ripley Loves Being Compared To Chyna, Wants To Win WWE Intercontinental Championship
While speaking with SportsBible – Ripley would discuss the comparisons to Chyna, and how she always views them as a compliment more than anything else.
“I love the fact that I get compared to Chyna because she is such a legend in this business – she broke down so many women stereotypes. Her being a part of the men’s Royal Rumble – her beating up guys, physically showing that she is stronger than some of the men. I look up to that sort of stuff, I idolise that sort of stuff. It is really cool to me that I do represent Chyna vibes in that sort of way.”
When the Intercontinental Championship was brought up – Ripley would welcome facing GUNTHER to try to carve out her own piece of WWE history.
“I would love to face Gunther. I would absolutely be down for that. I would love to try go for the Intercontinental Championship – it would be another history-making event which is all I want do – I want to be remembered for breaking the stereotype for women at the same time.”
Ripley Has History To Make At WrestleMania 39 First
Despite this, the current goal of Ripley is winning the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39.
She won the 2023 Royal Rumble match, and will once again face Charlotte Flair – who took the NXT Championship from her at WrestleMania 36 in an empty arena due to COVID-19.
If Ripley wins, she will become the first to hold the NXT UK, NXT, RAW & Smackdown Women’s Championship – meaning a chance to make history is within reach.
GUNTHER meanwhile is defending his championship against both Sheamus & Drew McIntyre in a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 39 – his hardest challenge on the WWE main roster so far.
