YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul remains intent on facing former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor in the squared circle. Paul, who is set to box a former opponent of McGregor, Nate Diaz, in his next fight, reacted strongly to a prediction McGregor that Diaz would “slap the head off him”.
First, Paul Tweeted. “I’m a better boxer than you and will do what you couldn’t and knock Nate out. After Nate let’s box as the co main event same night as Katie Taylor VS. [sic] Amanda Serrano in Dublin. But since you’re not your own boss you will hide behind Dana or just drink the rest of your life away. August 5th you will see.”

Then, Paul took to a press conference to further air his grievances. “I think he’s got trauma from when Nate slapped his head off. I like that, I like people that doubt me. I’m going to do what Conor couldn’t do, quite literally, and put a [wrench] in all of these plans here.
I know Nate wanted to get out of the UFC, come make a bunch of money, fight me, win, then go back and probably fight Conor in the UFC. So that’s what these guys are hoping for. I’m going to stop all that.”
Diaz and McGregor are 1-1 over two fights, with Diaz winning the first via rear naked choke, and McGregor claiming the second on the judges’ scorecards.
Jake Paul, who rose to fame on YouTube, started his boxing career with novelty bouts against MMA retirees, mostly from weight divisions far below his hulking two-hundred-pound frame.
His initial winning streak took him to 6-0, with victories over Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva. His latest outing, his first against a professional boxer, saw him lose to Tommy Fury.
Paul has long campaigned to take on Conor McGregor in the boxing ring, but it remains unclear whether or not the fight will ever materialize.
McGregor, although he put on considerable bulk in his time away from the Octagon, is still a long way from fighting in Paul’s heavyweight/cruiswerweight division. McGregor also insists that he is about to return to the Octagon any moment now, despite a two-year layoff.
Conor McGregor, of course, has competed as a boxer once before, opposite Floyd Mayweather. This was back in 2017, and McGregor has not entered the squared circle since.
