At WrestleMania 39, Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens broke The Bloodline’s golden dominance in WWE. They were able to defeat The Usos to claim the Unified WWE Tag Team Championships, and retained in a rematch. This series of events did not sit well with Roman Reigns, who intends to set things right tonight. With Solo Sikoa by his side, Reigns looks to end the reign of Zayn & Owens.
He’s beaten both men in defences of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship this year with heavy help from Sikoa – and tonight, looks to show everyone his tag team skills that won him gold in 2013. Ahead of this match, there was a clear rift between The Usos & Roman Reigns – which could be key to his downfall.
Sami Zayn Gets The Crowd Firmly Behind Him
Zayn would offer to start the match with Reigns, getting a strong reaction from the crowd – who accepted him as one of their own. An Ole chant would only fire Zayn up more, and forced Reigns to tag out to Sikoa as he started to crack. Reigns would continue to get worked up at ringside, as Sikoa used his power to send Zayn tumbling across the ring.
Zayn would use his speed to avoid a Samoan Spike in the corner, and hit a quick chop. Owens got a tag, and would throw strikes with Sikoa in the ring – and was cornered after a headbutt.
Sikoa lost control of Owens, and Zayn got the tag – only to run into the strike of Sikoa. Reigns would choke Zayn on the ropes from the outside,
Knowing Zayn was vulnerable, Reigns would tag in – and choked him using his boot. When the referee warned him about a DQ, he threatened to strike him. Zayn would take a suplex, with Reigns getting a two count – and would argue with the referee some more. Owens & Zayn would team up on Sikoa on the floor, with Owens forced back into his corner of the ring.
Back in the ring, Zayn would take a Samoan Drop from Sikoa – before being sent to the floor again. Reigns tried for a cheap shot, but Zayn would fight back – managing to stun both opponents.
The crawl to make a tag would be unsuccessful, with Sikoa stomping Zayn out. However, Zayn refused to quit – and completed the tag.
Kevin Owens Brings The Fight To The Bloodline
Owens would bring the fight to Reigns, nailing a stiff superkick to set up the Cannonball. Sikoa would distract Owens, taking a forearm smash before a lariat dropped him. Superman Punch from Reigns was blocked, with Owens hitting a Pop Up Powerbomb and Frog Splash for a near fall.
Reigns would avoid a stunner and connected with a picture perfect Superman Punch, and was back in control. Owens would try for the Stunner, with Reigns falling to the middle rope and bouncing back into a massive spear for a double down. Zayn & Sikoa got tags, with Sikoa sent to the floor and nailed with a massive Swanton Dive over the top rope.
Back in the ring, a Blue Thunder Bomb would get a two count. Exploder Suplex into the corner set up the Helluva Kick, and if not for Reigns – this match would have been over.
Reigns broke the pinfall up, and trying to spear Zayn – instead hit the referee. Zayn would look for the Superman Punch on Reigns, and it landed flush. Owens would follow up with a Spear, before dragging Reigns to the floor and whipping him into the steel steps.
The announce tables would be prepared – before The Usos would rush to ringside and attack Owens with a double superkick. In the ring, a double superkick meant for Zayn would hit Sikoa instead – and Reigns saw only that.
The Usos Do What Should Have Be Done Ages Ago
Getting into the ring, Owens would get into the face of The Usos – shoving Jimmy aside before telling Jey to get out of his ring. Jimmy would respond with a superkick to Reigns – and Jey asked why he would do that.
Jey said that they need to be better than that, but the crowd chanted for one more. Jimmy said that he’s doing what Jey should have done ages ago – and rocked Reigns with another superkick.
The Usos have split from The Bloodline – and left Sikoa & Reigns staggered. Owens would hit a Stunner to Sikoa, and Zayn followed up with the Helluva Kick – with a new referee hitting the ring to count the pinfall. Zayn & Owens remain champions, but Reigns might not care about less gold – having bigger fish to fry.
