In an industry like professional wrestling, there is always going to be certain wrestlers who change the landscape. We wouldn’t see the same sport without the likes of Gorgeous George, Billy Graham, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, and more paving the path of progress.
One name who belongs in the same conversation is Rey Mysterio – who would truly bring the fast paced Lucha Libre style to North America. Viewed by many as a legend, even Bret Hart thinks Mysterio is one of the greatest to ever do it.
Bret Hart Names Four Dream Matches On Current WWE Roster
During an interview with Johnny I Pro – Bret Hart would be asked about some dream matches that he was never able to do – dropping four names in particular: Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, John Cena & Rey Mysterio. Hart had the following to say.
”Of today’s wrestlers, I would love to wrestle Brock Lesnar. I would love to wrestle Roman Reigns. I would love to put John Cena in the sharpshooter. I just know that when I was the, you know, the American bashing Canadians.
John Cena would have been the perfect American. We could have danced for a long time, and we could have done some great stuff, and I wish I could have done that with someone like John Cena. CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan are also two of my favorites.
I’ll say this like one of the greatest, maybe the greatest wrestlers of all time that people don’t often forget about or don’t recognize. Rey Mysterio is maybe one of the greatest. I wish I could have had one match with Rey Mysterio just to be in the ring with him. He’s one of my favorites and is always a class act. Very few wrestlers have the respect that I have for Rey Mysterio.”
Hart Was Unable To Have These Dream Matches By 2009
There is little doubt that Hart would have had phenomenal matches with all four of these men. By the time Hart mended his relationship with WWE in 2009, he had already been retired and suffered a stroke.
His WrestleMania match with Vince McMahon was more of an angle than anything. Proper matches well in his past by that point.
