There are few names bigger in the world of professional wrestling than Shawn Michaels. One of the biggest names in WWE during the 1990’s, and someone who came back from a career ending injury to raise the standard of main event matches in the 2000’s – Michaels is more deserving of the title of legend than most.
However, while some look to relive their glory days in the ring, Michaels is enjoying helping build the future of WWE as the current head of NXT, and doesn’t think of entering the ring anymore.
Shawn Michaels Doesn’t Think About Returning To The Ring At This Point
During an interview with SportsKeeda, Michaels would be asked if he is interested in another match – and had the following response.
“No, I absolutely do not think about that at all anymore. I’m so enamoured and enjoy helping these young men and women come through NXT. I’ve had my time in the sun and I enjoyed every bit of it, but I so thoroughly enjoy being able to help them and allow them to have the same opportunities that I had. I was very happy to be able to work with Finn Balor in his second run in NXT because I certainly missed out on his first time.
I have a great deal of admiration and respect for Finn and everything he’s brought to NXT. Now, this is about the generation of Bronn Breakker, Julius and Brutus Creed, Tiffany Stratton. We have a number of young men and women who have come through NXT that are going to be huge superstars on the main roster.
I don’t think anybody is going to be surprised if they see Bronn Breakker and Carmelo Hayes headlining a WrestleMania in the very near future. That’s what I’m obviously focused on. We look forward to bringing the Great American Bash to Texas and putting together a great card, and me doing everything I can to help them out and bring them success in the future.”
Michaels had his final match at WWE Crown Jewel 2018, when he teamed with Triple H to face The Undertaker & Kane in what is considered one of the worst matches in WWE history. His proper retirement match came at WrestleMania 26 against The Undertaker.
