NXT is quickly becoming Swerve’s house, as Isiah ‘Swerve’ Scott proves that he was worth the hype generated by his signing in 2019. He enters the B-Block of the tournament to crown the Interim Cruiserweight Champion. This is the second tournament he has had a chance in as part of the NXT brand, having previously been in the NXT Breakout Tournament, won by Jordan Myles. Will Swerve be more successful this time around, and prove he is the best Cruiserweight NXT currently has?
An Eight Match Win Streak On 205 Live
On 205 Live, Swerve has only had a single loss since joining the brand, that being against Drew Gulak on July 23rd, 2019. Since then, he has won nearly every match he has had, with the only exception being a match with Lio Rush which was made a No Content after outside interference from the Singh Brothers, who he and Rush defeated that same night. Swerve has been one of the most dominant stars in 205 Live. He hasn’t found the same success on NXT however, where he has mostly lost. Despite this, within the Cruiserweight Division, few have figured him out.
Isiah Scott Has A Chance At Revenge Should He Win
While the NXT Breakout Tournament would have gotten him a title shot of his choosing, winning this round robin tournament would make him a champion until Jordan Devlin is able to travel again. Devlin won his championship at the expense of Swerve, defeating him at Worlds Collide in the Fatal Four Way match which also featured Angel Garza and Travis Banks. Winning this tournament will give him a chance to redeem that loss, and finally beat Jordan Devlin to become the Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion.
A Tough Block
While the A-Block has potential weak links in Jake Atlas & Drake Maverick, the B-Block is stacked with talent. Swerve will face former Cruiserweight Champion Akira Tozawa, the new more vicious Jack Gallagher, and the debuting lucha libre star, El Hijo Del Fantasma. This will test Swerve, and make it very hard to make it to the finals with a winning record. We will see exactly how tough Swerve is in this tournament, and by the end, we could truly be living in Swerves house.
