The entire worldwide economy has been hit hard by the outbreak of COVID-19, and that includes WWE. There was a brief call internally today about how WWE will be responding to loss of income. In short, there will be cut backs across the board for the company. From executives, to staff, to the roster in general, things are going to be changing very quickly.
Hard Decisions Were Made
During the call from Vince McMahon, he would announce that firstly, executive members of the company will be getting pay cuts. This is standard for major companies in these types of situations, but will likely not effect Vince McMahon directly. Secondly, the plans to move the WWE Headquarters from Titan Tower to the new HQ in Stamford, CT have been delayed for at least a six month period. Finally, talent will be let go from the company, from employees to the wrestling roster. Some will go on a leave of absence, others will be completely let go. At the time of writing, these cuts have not been made public yet.
Who Will Be Gone From WWE?
Even after the small cuts in November of 2019, WWE still has a ton of talent they simply aren’t using. From the hoard of talent of prospects in the WWE Performance Center, to people like Aliyah who never were able to capture the attention of fans, there will be come easy cuts. We could see some more major names be released, with people like Jinder Mahal, No Way Jose, Heath Slater, Epico & Primo Colon, EC3 and Lars Sullivan at the top of that potential list. Other rosters like NXT UK could be torn to shreds with this news, though that roster could be placed on leave of absence as they won’t be able to tape any shows for quite some time anyways. We are unlikely to see major stars like Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns let go, it will be a lot of names that people will have little idea who they are. We will also be seeing road agents cut, as many allumni have been given backstage roles like Shane Helms, D’Von Dudley and more, helping to put matches together.
Who do you think will be gone from WWE with these major cuts? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
