When WWE signed Eli Drake and placed him in NXT as LA Knight – fans didn’t expect much. His charisma and in-ring skills were well known, but some felt WWE had gotten him a little too late.
When he hit the WWE main roster as the manager of Maximum Male Models, all hope was seemingly lost… until he shifted back into being LA Knight.
Crowd reactions would quickly grow, and start to become Attitude Era levels of loud. Now, Knight is a few big matches from the main event – and he knows that his rise has been insane.
LA Knight Feels He’s Had The Quickest Climb In History Of Business
While appearing on Breakfast Television, LA Knight would talk about his rise in WWE – and had the following to say.
“I don’t want to toot my own, but toot toot. I’ll go ahead and say that is probably the quickest climb in the history of the business. Maybe I’m off base if someone on Twitter wants to correct me. Just looking at the way things have moved, only being on the SmackDown roster since October and having this explosive growth like this. it’s been huge, it’s been enormous, I didn’t plan on it. How could you plan for it? At the same time, I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing because, obviously, that’s working one way or another. whether they want to boo me or cheer me, doesn’t make a difference to me. I’m going to go out there, do my thing and keep pushing and I’m going to get myself to the top.”
Set To Make His Fourth PLE Appearance Of 2023
We last saw LA Knight on TV for Monday Night RAW, where he would cost current rival The Miz his match against Akira Tozawa.
Knight is expected to face The Miz on the upcoming WWE Premium Live Event, Payback. This will mark his fourth PLE appearance in 2023, having been involved with the Royal Rumble, Money In The Bank & SummerSlam events.
WWE didn’t expect LA Knight to explode in popularity, and as such have needed to rework some of their plans for the back half of 2023 to make up for this. Knight would talk about this earlier this year, and you can read more about that here.
