CM Punk’s future in professional wrestling is unclear at this stage. Last week, would be fired from All Elite Wrestling after lunging at his boss – Tony Khan.
Now, he remains a highly valuable name in the industry, despite his backstage issues. A WWE return could be in the future of Punk, and one potential opponent is Finn Balor of The Judgement Day.
Finn Balor Would Wrestle A Broomstick For The Right Price
While speaking with Ringer Wrestling – Finn Balor would be asked if he would work with CM Punk should a WWE return happen. Balor had the following response, stating he’d wrestle anyone or anything WWE wanted – for the right price.
“I’d be interested in wrestling a broomstick if someone is going to pay me money. Money talks.”
This is a match that has never happened before in professional wrestling – making it a potentially huge one for WWE. Balor has been on one of the best runs of his career in WWE, recently claiming the WWE Tag Team Championships alongside Damien Priest. Add in several high profile singles matches against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, and Balor would make for a perfect opponent against Punk.
CM Punk Went Out On A High Note – But WWE Has Changed Since 2014
Punk left WWE in 2014 on bad terms, leading to him staying away from professional wrestling until his return to AEW. However, lots has changed in WWE since Punk was last part of their roster – and there’s a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame waiting for Punk.
He wouldn’t be the first man to leave WWE on bad terms and enter the Hall of Fame, and unlike Jeff Jarrett – never held up Vince McMahon for money.
As of right now, CM Punk’s last match could be his ‘Real’ World Championship match against longtime rival Samoa Joe. Having taken place in Wembley Stadium infront of 88,000 fans – it would enable Punk to go out on a high note, so long as backstage issues are ignored.
