Vince McMahon’s well known for his peculiar sense of humor and there are many stories about how he likes to push people into his pool and so on that Jim Cornette and others have talked about over the years.
In fact, his humor is what shaped the WWE as the entire production has been to be done for an audience of one — him.
Vince McMahon Used Kurt Angle to Have Some Fun with Hulk Hogan
If fans didn’t like something, he’d often keep doing it until the fans came around. King Kong Bundy talked about that in an interview and he singled out the Ultimate Warrior and Andre the Giant.
According to Bundy, to put Warrior over Vince had im body slam Andre every night at house shows and the fans would boo loudly.
Bundy said he told Vince they’re killing them, but Vince wanted to shove it down the fans’ throats so Warrior kept body slamming him and according to Bundy the crowd eventually came around.
Using Angle
For reasons that were his own for the most part, Vince had Kurt Angle grind on Hulk Hogan during their feud and Hogan talked about it on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Special thanks to Wrestlingnews.co for the transcript.
“Kurt Angle is just coming at me and taking me down and going behind me and yoken my sh*t up every night and it’s been going on for like three or four nights in a row. I’m like, I know he’s kind of like green. He’s just getting started. He’s got that amateur wrestling mindset. If you can’t break him of that, he’s not gonna draw any money. I mean, as soon as Brock got that out of his head, he drew nothing but money. I finally said, ‘Brother. What is your deal? I’m here to make money. I’m here to make a living. What’s going on with you, man? Why the first five or six minutes and you’re trying to grind me out here?’ ‘Well, Vince told me to screw you.’ I said, ‘Oh, really? I can’t’ wait to get a hold of Vince now.’ Vince put it in Kurt’s ear that when you’re on these house shows with Hogan and nobody sees you, you’re not on TV, go out and grind his ass. So that was a big thing for Vince just for fun, just as a joke.”
Hogan has been known to stretch the truth in the past and while this could be one of those times, given the stories about Vince from others this fits in with the narrative.
