Booker T On Dolph Ziggler WWE Release: “He’s Been On Cruise Control For The Last Ten Years”

In the recent batches of WWE releases – one name really stood out to fans. This was Dolph Ziggler, who many felt would remain in WWE for his entire career.

Generally a standout of any card he was placed on, but some had felt he got stale in terms of character. One such person is two time WWE Hall of Famer, Booker T.

If You Don’t Change With The Times – The Times Will Pass You By

While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast – Booker T would comment on the release of Dolph Ziggler, and why it didn’t shock him. Booker had the following to say.

“Dolph seems like he’s been on cruise control for the last ten years. He seemed like he got to the point where he said, ‘I’m just going to ride.’ Dolph is one of those guys that really never changed his look. He’s always been the same guy, all the time. For me, if you don’t change with the times, the times will pass you by. You have to know how to keep up with what’s going on and use it in the entertainment world.

Dolph Ziggler just stayed that one character throughout his entire time. Was he a guy that could go out and perform at a very high level? Oh yes. Dolph was a guy that could go out and work with anybody. Then, Dolph became that guy where, if you needed to get somebody over, you would call Dolph. Sometimes, you put yourself in that position, when you do not know how to change with the times. Dolph is going to be okay. He’s smart.”

Does Dolph Ziggler Need To Change To Start Next Stage Of His Career

However, with Ziggler now starting a new stage of his career – it could well be enough for him to simply work ‘dream matches’ with opponents who were previously out of reach in WWE.

By simply putting Ziggler in matches with the likes of Tomohiro Ishii, Eddie Kingston, or even Kenny Omega – his ‘Better Than You’ character can easily hold up.

We have seen people take drastic turns following a WWE release, namely with Matt Cardona – but Ziggler might well have the skills to simply coast by in a company like All Elite Wrestling. We will simply have to wait and see what his next move is, and if it’s something no one would see coming.

What do you hope to see from Ziggler next? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
