The Revival has finally left WWE, getting out before WWE had some mass layoffs last Wednesday. Scott Dawson (now Dax Harwood) & Dash Wilder (now Cash Wheeler) have come up with a new moniker now that they are on their own. Looking to escape the goofy nature that was the bulk of their time in WWE, they have taken the name “The Revolt”, with #FTR now meaning ‘Fear The Revolt’. They dropped a video package to announce this with a very serious tone, showing footage from various real life revolutions. That is not what got them their recent flack, but rather it was the fact the ‘The Revolt’ has been a claimed name since 2015.
The Revolt Was Caleb Conley and Zane Riley
Two indie wrestlers from the budding North Carolina scene, Caleb Conley & Zane Riley have been known as The Revolt for the past 5 years. While neither man has made it huge, Caleb Conley has been featured on both Impact Wrestling & NWA Powerrr. After the reveal came to social media, both men had some snide remarks to be made. Riley tweeted, “Hey @DaxHarwood and @CashWheelerFTR! If ya need ideas for merch or gear or anything we got 5 years worth it just boppin’ around!” Konley added in another tweet, “I gotta say. Its a real good name. Almost like a tag team should have been doing it years ago. #Revolt”
The Revival will be also entering the North Carolina scene as far as the independents go, which has others viewing this as even more disrespectful.
The Revival Could Have Been Unaware Of This Name Being Taken
Conley & Riley are hardly the biggest tag team in the world, and The Revival have spent years navigating the rocky waters of WWE. This could have simply been a case of them being unaware this team name was taken, and not doing the full research before announcing the name. Hopefully this issue is being resolved behind closed DM’s, and they settle things in the ring with a classic ‘The Revolt Name Rights On A Pole Match’.
Do you think Cash & Dax had ill intentions with stealing their new name from a smaller tag team? Is this all just a lack of understanding and research? Should they come up with a new name? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
