When it comes to All Elite Wrestling, the veteran influence of Dustin Rhodes is a major boon for their locker room. With 31 years of experience, he has filled a player-coach type role for the locker room, both competing in the ring to show that he can still work with the best of them, and working backstage to help the next generation. He has now mentioned a few people he has helped out in the locker room, with one being the bitter rival of his brother Cody, that being MJF.
Dustin Rhodes Has Been Working With MJF Behind The Scenes
While MJF has proven to be an absolute expert when it comes to promos, even dating back to his Tough Enough tryout video for WWE, there is always room for input from veterans of wrestling like Dustin Rhodes. During an interview with TV Insider, Dustin Rhodes spoke on how he helped MJF ensure he didn’t miss something crucial in his promos going forward. “I worked with MJF on his promos a lot. He is very good and doesn’t need a whole bunch of coaching, he knows how to talk. He just needs direction. For him to put in his tagline was very important where in these promos he says, “I’m better than you.” He did a couple without saying that toward the beginning. I told him he needed to hit his tagline. He started doing that, and the people started recognizing it”
This goes to show that even with a natural talent for an aspect of wrestling, there will always be a way to improve yourself when you’re a young talent starting out on TV. MJF is quickly becoming the best heel in the entire company, but is currently out of action due to a horrific hangnail he suffered while gambling on matches with Shawn Spears. Once he is healthy enough to get back in the ring, he is expected to be a future challenger for Jon Moxley and the AEW Championship. His last singles match was back at AEW Revolution, where he beat Cody Rhodes after a well placed punch with the help of his Dynamite Diamond Ring. That match came after months of torment for Cody, which included 10 lashes from a belt and a steel cage match with Wardlow, all of which got MJF over as a top heel.
Do you think MJF benefited from the help he was given by Dustin Rhodes? Would he have realized to include his catchphrase on his own in time? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
