Jim Cornette On Managing The Revival / The Revolt

Jim Cornette On Managing The Revival / The Revolt

Before WWE would go ahead and cut a major part of their roster, The Revival were released from their contracts. During their time in NXT, they were touted as one of the greatest tag teams in the world. Their matches with American Alpha, #DIY, Enzo & Cass and more showed their old school sensibilities, with many comparisons to The Brainbusters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard). While they won many tag team titles on Smackdown & RAW, and had good showings against teams like The New Day & The Usos, they never reached the heights from NXT again.

However, they have always had a downside. Their skills on the microphone have always been limited, and a mouthpiece could take them to the next level. Many have wanted veteran manager Jim Cornette to do this, and with them likely to debut for AEW, he has finally addressed all the emails asking him about this team, and why he won’t manage them. He would speak about them on The Jim Cornette Experience.

    Jim Cornette Likes The Revival

While Cornette is someone who doesn’t seem to like anyone in modern wrestling, he is a fan of The Revival.

“I love The Revival, no matter what name they’re under. Those guys not only were wrestling fans, but they had the eye to see what the s**t was supposed to be like, and the dedication to train themselves to do it. And every time I have seen them — I haven’t followed weekly for the last five years. But every time I have seen them, they have had a great match and they have excelled at something that very few people can do well anymore at all. And I do agree that probably a manager would help them out, because if there’s any weak point in their game, it may be the promo aspect.

I would love to have managed them in the old days when I was younger, if we were either in a territory or we could drive or I still had the love of the wrestling business to put up with getting on planes. But I’m not younger, I ain’t gonna fly. And as everybody knows that listens to this program, I would be insane to give up…all the things I’ve been doing the last several years to just jump into a full-time wrestling job for somebody else again.”

He would mention that he could be convinced to act as their manager for a one off on an indie show, but we won’t be seeing Cornette in AEW. Do you wish Jim Cornette would flank The Revolt when they come to AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
