WWE Monday Night Raw is on tonight, following an edition of Money In The Bank that, I think we can all agree, we won’t be forgetting any time soon. Tonight, both Edge and Randy Orton will be making their first appearances since WrestleMania and it sounds like they’re going to be continuing their feud. We’re here at the Overtimer where as always, you can expect in-depth coverage of the night’s show, including recaps and results, plus previews of everything we can expect. So let’s go ahead and get to it.
Edge & Randy Orton Returning Tonight
Orton and Edge had easily one of the top feuds in all of wrestling this year, one of the only true bursts of life WWE have seen in 2020. The reactions their segments got were out of this world and generally were executed to perfection. Even once the pandemic started, they cut some of the best promos we’ve heard in WWE in years to keep the momentum going until finally they faced off at WrestleMania.
It was a very long Last Man Standing bout which saw them fight their way through the backstage area, all over the Performance Center. It ended atop a giant production truck, where Edge finally managed to give Orton a conchairto, avenging what Orton had done to him previously in a hideous attempt to end his career. The match itself didn’t necessarily receive glowing reviews, being that it went on for an extremely long time – about 36 minutes – and was largely comprised of the two of them dragging each other around and slamming each other into things.
Still, it was a violent and physical battle and one with the perfect, poignant conclusion to their feud. Atleast that’s sure what it seemed like but now WWE are advertising that the two of them will each be appearing here tonight and they’re very much making it sound like the rivalry is going to be resuming. I would guess that since the match ended up being contentious and this was no doubt disappointing given it was Edge’s ‘real’ return match, his first one-on-one bout since 2011, perhaps they will aim to rectify this with a more standard match going forward. Or atleast one that keeps them in the ring area and takes place within a bit more of a reasonable timeframe. Whatever the next chapter is, we should get an idea tonight.
