WWE Monday Night Raw continues. Backstage, Natayla is interrupted from her interview with a phone call from TJ, aka Tyson Kidd? She explains to him that she already apologized for her temper tantrum, she hurriedly finishes the call and comes back for the interview but know they’re out of time. Then, Angel Garza attacks Kevin Owens on his way out to the ring before their match! Kevin’s got a bum leg after a commercial break but he demands they ring the bell anyway.
Kevin Owens vs. Angel Garza
Garza is working over Owens’ leg from the get go, got him in a Spinning Toe Hold of sorts. Kevin crawls to the bottom rope to break it, Garza pulls him up for a Wing Clipper but a sweet DDT counter stops that! Series of clotheslines, back elbow. Big senton! Owens wants his Cannonball but on the run his leg gives way, Angel with a superkick for a nearfall! Takes Owens up top, a headbutt drops him and Kevin goes all the way up, huge flying senton hits hard! But with his leg he can’t make the cover! Angel and Kev both fight to their feet. Owens chops him in the ropes! Whip, tries for a Poppa but the leg gives out again, and there’s the Wing Clipper!! And… just like that, Angel Garza gets a huge upset!
Winner: Angel Garza
Dang look at that, they’re finally going in deep on a push for Garza. I mean a month ago this totally would not have happened, but it has been pretty clear from the outset that they might as well go for it with Garza, the guys super talented and extremely charismatic. His lothario gimmick really helps him stand out too and he plays it so well. After the match, Garza gets Kevin with a running kick to the back of the leg, just to be a jerk.
It’s a pretty massive upset, can’t be overstated. Even with the gimmick of the bum leg, which is neat ’cause it plays off the legit injury at Mania, I imagine Owens might end up being able to milk that injury for good long while, which ain’t a bad thing for a babyface to have at all. And it will set up well for a big time rematch between the two later on down the line, maybe at Backlash? This one was short but that’s fine just lets them save their real game until they’re ready to go big-time with it.
We get a recap of the ridiculous competition that’s been going on between the Viking Raiders and the Street Profits. Once again tonight, they will golf. Raiders have a turkey leg on the golf course but are told this will not be allowed. The swings commence. Street Profits seem pretty okay at it. Erik is up and he tosses the golf club like a javelin. They celebrate this. With the ball in the rough, they just keep swinging and missing. Montez bounces a ball off a tree and it ricochets off a golf cart and a few other things until landing right in the hole, of course. An errant swing from the Raiders sends the ball flying into another golfer. They rush into a golf cart and it breaks down immediately. The caddy tosses them out. We then see the teams playing a round of mini-golf instead. A lady at the place says she’ll let them go because Ivar is cute but Erik, not so much. Yay we have running gags now. Viking Raiders sink one to get an ending score of Raiders 144, Profits 28. Naturally the Raiders celebrate because they’re dumb and the Profits have to tell them that in golf the lower score wins. They then do a bit where they pull a wallet and a solo cup and a turkey leg all from the same hole. Ivar stares down a baby alligator and wants to fight it I don’t know.
