A few weeks back on Smackdown Live, Elias would be run down in the parking lot. Jeff Hardy originally took the fall for this, but it would be later shown to be Sheamus who hit him with the rental car. Instead of being charged for vehicular assault, Sheamus will instead have to wrestle Jeff Hardy at a PPV, a punishment in it’s own right. However going back to Elias, he was chosen for good reason. While he was still in the WWE Intercontinental Championship tournament, Elias would suffer an injury and need to be written off TV somehow.
Elias Has A Torn Pectoral Muscle
While in storyline he suffered broken ribs and a torn pectoral muscle, only one of those injuries are legitimate. A torn pectoral muscle will put Elias out of action for months. This is his second major injury in a row, with Elias having suffered a broken foot in September. It’s unclear when the muscle tear happened, but was likely while working out between shows.
Should He Get A Title Match On His Return?
With Elias now unable to make his way through the tournament, AJ Styles took his free win to go to the finals where he will meet Daniel Bryan. Given in storyline Elias was run down in the parking lot, this gives two options for his return feud. He can go after the title he was screwed out of his chance for, or go after the man who took time off his career in Sheamus. Either would help elevated Elias, who has been on the road to becoming a star for years now.
With him only having two injuries in his still young career, it would be hard to see WWE losing much faith in Elias. Even if they lose faith in him as a wrestler, 90% of the appeal of Elias is in his music gimmick, which he has absolutely perfected. This could allow him to move into commentary or even a manager role, should injuries pile up too much.
