Change Made To NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contenders Match

As part of the NXT: Great American Bash special, we will see a new number one contender to Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Championship named. Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae, and Mia Yim will all battle for the right of challenge, and while it was orignally a simply Fatal Four Way, with one fall to a finish, things have gotten grander. It will now be under Elimination Rules, meaning this combustable situation will have time to full explode.

The Feuds Of Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai & Mia Yim vs. Candice LeRae Will Combine

This match is fairly genius in how it’s been set up. It combines the two most heated feuds in the division, that of Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai and Mia Yim vs. Candice LeRae. Nox & Kai have been at each others throats for nearly a year now, with Kai constantly getting the better of Nox due to the involvement of Raquel Gonzalez, who will almost certainly be at ringside for this one. This alone could be set as a number one contenders match, but we also have another feud.

Ever since Candice LeRae would turn her back on the division, saying she was done lifting others up and taking the glory for herself. This is the same mentality used by her husband, Johnny Gargano. Since then, Gargano has been at the throat of Keith Lee, and LeRae at the throat of Yim. While not as bitter and intense as the feud of Nox & Kai, they’ve torn into each other at every chance.

These four elements in one match is going to be one to see, and the simple stipulation ensures it’ll get atleast twenty minutes to play out.

Who Will Win The Right Of Challenge For The NXT Women’s Championship?

Anyone in this match can be a top contender, but the most likely pick feels like Dakota Kai. She doesn’t seem likely to become NXT Women’s Champion, but it’s also much too early for the reign of Io Shirai to lose the title. The epic rematch with Candice LeRae is one that NXT will want to save for a major crowd. Meanwhile, Yim & Nox face the issue of being faces in this match, when Io also leans to that side of the heel/face spectrum.

Add in Kai having her muscle in Raquel Gonzalez at ringside, it’ll be the just an even bigger advantage. She just needs to survive until it’s one on one, and she has the two on one advantage still. But it’s too soon to tell, we’ll known who will win this when the bell rings and an arm is raised. Who do you think will win? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
