Four women will enter the ring tonight with a singular goal in mind. They all want to be the first one to get a title shot at the newly crowned NXT Women’s Champion, Io Shirai. It will be under elimination rules, making stamina and strategy important entering this match. Dakota Kai & Tegan Nox have been clashing for almost a year now, and Mia Yim has had almost equal issues with Candice LeRae as of late. It is absolutely a combustable situation, but only one will have their arm raised and gain right of challenge for Shirai. Who would win?
Instant Chaos Ensues
It’s worth noting to start that Raquel Gonzalez was banned from ringside for this match. Candice LeRae would slip out of the ring early, along with Dakota Kai, having Tegan Nox & Mia Yim getting this match started. Yim would be tripped by LeRae and thrown into the steel stairs, before coming into the ring to confront Nox. Kai would quickly get involved, and a short brawl would ensue. They’d go to the outside, and LeRae would try for a dive to the outside, only to be taken out of the sky with a dropkick from Yim.
We’d see LeRae fight back, and show shades of her former self with a beautiful springboard dive to the outside before taking to the top rope to dive on Yim. Yim would intercept, but LeRae slipped behind hit a German Suplex off the middle rope for a near fall. Soon all four would be in the ring, and deliever strikes into the corner. Candice LeRae would find herself on the business end of Protect Ya Neck, and Mia Yim notched the first elimination.
Through the commerical break, we would see Yim go for a double submission, trapping Kai in an Indian Deathlock, and Nox in a Guillotine Choke, but they’d both break out.
Mia Yim Is On Fire
Coming back from the break, all three remaining women would be dishing out strikes, with Yim throwing Kai into the corner before hitting a running cannonball, followed by Nox doing the same. They’d try to pin Kai together, but she’d kick out at two. Nox & Yim would face off in the ring, before Kai came in just to eat a Dragon Suplex from Yim. She’d also be used as a launchpad by Yim, who was firing on all cylinders, hitting a hurricarana on Nox, then one on Kai, and hitting dual dives.
Yim would nail Kai with the Code Blue for a near fall, with Nox sliding in for a rollup for a nearfall of her own on Yim. An O’Connor Roll to Yim would eliminate her from the match, with Kai getting this fall.
Dakota Kai vs. Tegan Nox, With No Gonzalez
Since their street fight at NXT Takeover, Raquel Gonzalez was constantly meddling in the affairs of Tegan Nox on the behalf of Dakota Kai. They’re now the final two in this match, with no distractions. During the commercial break, they’d start their standoff, before Kai locked Nox in a rear chin lock. Nox would break out and attempt a rollup for a near fall, before being dropped with a hard lariat.
They’d trade shots in the middle of the ring after the break, tired after a fast paced match. These bitter rivals would leave it all in the ring, with a hockey fight breaking out, complete with slamming on the glass. A superkick from Kai would drop Nox, who would yell for her opponent to get up. Nox would, and hit a huge headbutt, before dropping her with a series of lariats. Running into the corner with a few back elbows, Nox would be feeling the win in sight. A huge cannonball to the face of Kai in the corner would have her seeing stars, but she’d kick out all the same.
Something Had To Give
A bridged fall away slam would get another near fall for Nox, who would go to the top rope and be caught with a running kick, thrown to the ground. She’d be hit with the Kai-ropractor, but kick out. Kai would be in control now, but Nox refused to give up, slipping out of the Go-To-Kick, and hitting a facebuster for a near fall. She’d try for the Shining Wizard, miss and Kai would lock in a submission, but Nox refused to quit. She’d fight out with a headbutt, go to the top rope for a Molly Go Round, and set up the Shining Wizard for the win.
With this win, she beats Dakota Kai, and in doing so, earns the right of challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship. This was a fantastic matchup, and a great showcase of all four women. The final stretch of Kai vs. Nox alone was great, but the match as a whole reached an easy 4/5 rating.
