While many will think of Bully Ray (aka Bubba Ray Dudley) as a tag team specialist, that is only half his story. During his time in Impact Wrestling, he made it all the way to the top of the card and enjoyed a reign as Impact Heavyweight Champion. He was the leader of Aces & Eights, and with that faction likely making it’s way back to TV? His return seems likely. Add in Ring Of Honor not looking to renew his contract, and we could know the fourth man in the Slammiversary main event.
One Last Big Singles Run For Bully Ray In Impact Wrestling
While he’s not nearly as good in the ring as he was back in 2012, he can still work a decent ‘car crash’ type match. Give him weapons to mask his shortcomings, and he still knows how to tell a great story in the ring. Put him in a match with three of best workers in Impact Wrestling today, and he’ll add a level of variety to the match. Fatal Four Way matches are no disqualifaction affairs, making this right up his alley.
Win or lose, this would allow Bully Ray to hop right back into the fray with Impact Wrestling. Many will moan at the prospect of him being a main event player again after his miserable run in Ring Of Honor, but Impact is much better at playing to the strengths of their wrestlers. It’s a company that has made Mad Man Fulton into the perfect monster, and gave Ken Shamrock a new place in the wrestling industry, which both have to count for something.
Returning To WWE To Avenge Edge & Christian
While they spent most of their time in WWE together as rivals, there is a great deal of respect between everyone involved in those first TLC matches. They’re all close friends, and Randy Orton just punted both Edge & Christian into 2021. This calls for revenge, and this would finally give him a chance to shine in a major singles match with WWE. They previously considered him for a major push after the end of the last Dudley Boys run, but he was looked over for his age.
Coming in to face Orton would be an easy one-off match, one playing off nostalgia and history, much like Edge & Orton before it. WWE wouldn’t have to focus on him after that, but it would give him a chance to show just how much he could have to offer to the company.
