Back to WWE Raw, Alexander and Ricochet are approached by MVP and Bobby Lashley, but Alexander refused his offer and MVP promised Lashley they’d teach him something. He was then approached about his match with Apollo Crews at Extreme Rules and said he’s already beaten him and the match is only a formality. MVP kinda sounds like Moose with his unofficial TNA championship at Impact Wrestling. Just saying.
Lashley then promised Ricochet will be nursing his injuries in a hot tub after tonight.
We switch to Drew McIntyre, and Ziggler jumped him in mid response and officials came out to separate them.
Ricochet vs. Bobby Lashley (w/MVP)
This starts with a quick bursts by Ricochet, but Lashley shook it off and Lashely dropped him on the apron, then slammed him into the barricade.
Best moment of the match is early on when Samoa Joe is reminded that last year Ricochet beat him for his United States Championship and it’s pointed out he hates Ricochet. Samoa Joe counters by saying that he doesn’t hate Ricochet, he just despises him with every part of his being. But he respects and admires Ricochet’s athletic ability. Sounds similar to Lashley’s outlook
Ricochet outmaneuvered Lashley a few times, but Lashley caught him in his Dominator, but Ricochet kicked out.
Ricochet ducked a couple of Lashley’s strikes and hit with a standing shooting star, but Lashley kicked out. Ricochet then countered a Lashley charge with a superkick, but then backflipped into a full nelson for a Lashley win.
Alexander tries to get Lashley to release his hold, and gets a full nelson slapped on him, followed by a slam as an exclamation point.
This followed Lashley’s earlier promise about Ricochet spending time healing his wounds. The win was brutally efficient. At some point, people are going to stop saying no to MVP just to avoid the pain and trouble doing so causes.
The Hurt Business is good.
Big Show Accepts
Backstage, the Big Show is asked about being challenged by Randy Orton and if he accepted. It seems strange that anyone would have to ask that, but it’s important for WWE Raw to have everything understood going into next week. So, he answered simply, “Yes, I accept!”
Well, that was simple.
The question/problem here is why isn’t their match at Extreme Rules? Given Orton’s penchant for “ending careers” it seems fitting they’d face off there. This feels like there’s something more going on, that maybe another legend will step forward if/when Orton takes down the Big Show. Maybe Edge will return. He may not be able to wrestle, but he can still appear and cut a promo.
Or maybe Flair betrays Orton like was teased tonight, and he’ll take a shot meant for the Big Show, causing others to come out of the locker room. One thing’s for sure is next week’s WWE Raw could be more interesting than the pay-per-view.
