CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers here with one of the coolest throwback spoilers we’ve done yet. We’re so stoked for Monday, it’s taken us longer than normal to work through our thoughts on this and we’re still struggling, so this should be a fun experience.
Okay, getting to the heart of the matter, the powers-that-be are going to show us the original first two episodes of “The Young and the Restless” on Monday. They’re both a half hour long, as every soap opera was only a half hour way back when, but that’s not the only change. More on that in a minute.
We’re going back to March 26 and 27, 1973 for these episodes and it’s a world that’s completely different than we’re used to story angle and family-wise.
Back then, the main families in the show weren’t the Newmans and Abbotts, but the Brooks and Foster families.
Yep, it’s going to be an awesome experience and CBS “The Young and Restless” Spoilers are so looking forward to this.

Different dynamic
We’re introduced to the series along with the mysterious Brad Elliot (Tom Hallick) as a hitchhiker arriving in Genoa City in a truck. Curious about the city, he jumps out and into a different take on things than we’ve grown accustomed to seeing over the years.
Along with Brad, we’ll get to know the Brooks as an affluent family and their near constant angst with the Fosters, who represent the poor class.
This class conflict was something that was popular on television in the 1970s, and it’s sure to be a fun culture for us as we’re accustomed to seeing everyone living in a mansion or large estate.
What’s also going to be fun for CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers is seeing these families and their descendants. While both have largely disappeared, they have left their mark in current day Genoa City through joining other families and their descendants.
As the storylines progressed and more families were added, the Fosters merged with the Abbotts and are currently represented by Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) as she is the only Foster currently on the show.
The Brooks seemed to have faded from memory a lot more efficiently than the Fosters, as their only representative is Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), and he also happens to be related to the Abbotts more closely than he is the Brooks, depending on how one views the family tree.
Nothing like a little trip to the past to feel rooted to the present, eh? This is why so many of us have been clamoring for earlier episodes and a network where they and other shows can be aired so we can indulge in the classics while also enjoying the present ones.
