This match has been building for weeks, and it was expected to be part of Extreme Rules until it was announced for this week’s WWE Raw instead. While it was a letdown, it makes sense given how there isn’t another main event caliber match ready to go.
It can be argued that the WWE is currently in turmoil given some of their booking, but that’s nothing new.
In his quest to avenge Edge and Christian, The Big Show has stormed through any opponent Randy Orton and Ric Flair have put in his way. It’s been years since we’ve seen Show this dominant and it’s building for what should be an awesome match.
The Viper factor
Randy Orton has been doing everything he can to tweak the Big Show into becoming the angry giant he currently is all to get him off his game. When they face off, Show will be furious and look to maul Orton right away and he’ll leave opening for Orton to take advantage of.
Orton will wait for the right time to strike and then… well, we believe he’s going to add the Big Show to his growing list of legends he killed off in their unsanctioned match.
As much as we love the Big Show, there’s no way Orton’s current run is going to end here, at least we don’t think so.
So, if not here, where?
Bigger game
We believe that after tonight and with the Big Show dispatched, there aren’t any legends left on the roster for Orton to go after. The only ones in the company that have recently competed that we can think of are the Undertaker and Triple H.
The Undertaker won’t do it, so that’s not going to happen, but could Triple H?
We don’t see this simply because Triple H and Orton faced each other at two Super Showdowns ago, and it doesn’t feel right for the WWE to have an executive put in harm’s way and possibly dispatched like this.
It’s definitely possible, but highly unlikely unless Orton takes out Flair like he hinted at last week should Flair cross him. This could work, but would it be worth pulling Triple H out of the office to work this angle?
We don’t see it, mainly because it raises more questions than answers. This doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but probably not.
So, who’s that leave?
Why not a rising legend like a Chosen One?
It’s been a year since Orton challenged for a title, and seeing him go after Drew McIntyre would be an awesome main event for SummerSlam and the big name opponent they desperately need to face McIntyre.
Their match would have match of the year potential and be one for the ages. Will it happen? We may find out tonight on WWE Raw.
