Last week on WWE Raw, Shayna Baszler returned with a promise or threat to show the Raw women’s division what it’s really about, and this week she could have the perfect opportunity.
Following the debacle of a Raw Women’s Championship match, it’s a sure bet Asuka and Sasha Banks (with Bayley in the wings) will have a confrontation tonight over the stolen title belt.
Since there’ll undoubtedly be a match, this would be the perfect time for Baszler to make her presence known, either through interference of being part of the match.
But more than the championship, we could see another faction growing.
The new Baszler
Considering Bianca Belair also appeared last week with Ruby Riott, it could be possible that the three of them are going to come together in a new faction and attempt to take over the women’s division.
Assuming Baszler does become involved with Asuka and Banks, we expect her to have some backup. Otherwise, she’ll throttle all of them like she did the competition in the Elimination Chamber, and then we can be let down at SummerSlam like before as well.
Since she’s a heel, and heels nearly always need others to help them, having her own faction would make sense and it’d cause a bit of a problem for Banks and Bayley as Baszler is in more of a Steve Austin anti-hero role.
What to expect tonight
This is a hard one because there’s every reason to expect her to face a mid to lower card talent to make an example of. It feels like the WWE is hitting the reset with her since they don’t know what to do with Baszler. In this case, she seems more intent on proving herself as a threat, hopefully without biting someone and using that fake blood again.
Since it’s practically a given that Asuka and Banks will have a rematch, we’d love to see her interject herself into it and walk out with the Raw Women’s Championship around her waist. It’d be a cool way to thwart Banks wanting that championship and get her refocused on Bayley, like they’ve teased for longer than needed.
Assuming this happens and she wins a triple threat match, Banks and Bayley would go off and attack her. This would be a perfect time for Baszler to either fight them off herself as is most likely, or Beliar and Riott come out to help her and we’d have them with Banks and Bayley on one side, and the Kabuki Warriors of the other. It’d be a face turn, or an anti-hero turn for Baszler, but it’d correct an oversight WWE creative made at WrestleMania 36 and put Banks vs. Bayley back on track.
To be clear, this is all speculation on our part, but it feels like it’s a good possibility. We’ll have to wait to see how it all work out, but it should be fun.
What impact do you think Baszler will have tonight?
