During the COVID-19 lockdown, we’ve been blessed to have seen so many awesome episodes that really took us back to simpler and often better times.
This episode may or may not be special, depending on one’s point of view, but it really scratches CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers history itch.
In this little gem from March 28, 1984, we get to witness a first in television, and something that appears to only have been copied by reality television.

The suggestion
It’s been reported that during 1984, Jeanne Cooper (known for her role as Katherine Chancellor) approached “The Young and the Restless” Producers with an interesting, if not terrifying idea.
Jeanne was going to have a face lift done and she pitched the idea of having it added to her character’s storyline. The producers agreed, and a film crew recorded her surgery and when she first woke up.
We got to see her actual reaction, not Katherine’s. Part of the surgery was even put into the episode, and fans everywhere got to watch what many believed to be fiction and part of the show.
We always hear how art imitates life, and how artists use their personal experiences and what’s happening in the world around them as inspiration. This was just another method used, but with the same results.
It was groundbreaking and all of that, but it’s often forgotten or pushed aside under the weight of so many episodes and/or people’s personal feelings on the subject.
What took so long?
This is a questions CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers have been asking a lot lately. Like seeing the original two episodes, it feels like we should’ve seen this by now.
It’s just another reason why CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers have been going on and on about getting a new network to show these older episodes and other shows.
For many of us, these episodes are better than the current run from various reasons. Maybe it’s because our favorites are younger, the acting was better, or maybe it was the writing.
Whatever the reason, while we want to see new episodes, we also want to view these classics and others.
There are plenty of excuses why it’s not happening, but there was a channel that did this roughly fourteen years ago (SOAPnet), but it eventually failed for various reasons.
But now that we have DVRs and they can also be shared digitally, it’s time to start working to bring something like that back.
This episode is the perfect example and reason why we need another outlet where everyone can sit at home and enjoy them on their television.
