A really awesome tribute to Regis Philbin played next. It was really cool of them to play the tribute as he was a huge professional wrestling fan and would’ve been reportedly inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016 had his health permitted.
We’re seeing more and more names from our childhoods leaving us, and it makes it all the more important to remember them and the joy they’ve brought into everyone’s lives.
Murphy vs. Humberto Carillo
The match started fast as Murphy knocked Humberto Carrillo into the corner.
Carrillo fought back, hitting with a back elbow off the ropes, then stomped Murphy in the corner.
Coming off the rope, Carrillo hit with a spin kick, then dove through the ropes and sent Murphy into the barricade.
In the ring, Murphy shoved Carrillo off the top rope and into the barricade.
Murphy bounced him off the barricade again, then threw Carrillo into the ring for a near pin.
Carrillo fought Murphy off, but was caught climbing the ropes again. Carrillo it with a superkick to buy himself some time.
The two exchanged punches and kicks in the center of the ring before Carrillo caught him upside the face.
Carrillo hit with a missile dropkick to Murphy’s head, but Murphy kicked out.
On the apron, Carrillo hit with a pump kick, but Murphy fought free of a slam attempt, then caught Carrillo to a knee when he jumped off the top rope.
Murphy followed it up with a Murphy’s Law for the pin.
We’re kinda surprised it ended here without any extra curricular activities, but that’s only part of our gripe. At least Carrillo can be viewed as not that important to Rollins yet.
This was a pretty good match that resembled a grudge match given the problems between Carrillo and Murphy and Rollins.
This does raise the question about where Carrillo was earlier in the night when Dominic and Aleister Black needed him.
It’s possible they’ll say he wasn’t in the building or something along that if it comes up, but it’s just a plot hole in their current storyline.
Given the current situation going on in the world, it’s easy to understand that not everyone can make it to the shows, but at least give us something? Even if he just fan out to help at the last minute we’d take it.
This is what drives fans insane, and given it was happening for over a year doesn’t help us feel better.
