The announcers the turned their attention to Rey Mysterio.
We were informed that Dominic Mysterio was there that night, and we then saw a recap of Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio’s Eye for an Eye match at Extreme Rules.
We shifted to a scene of Rollins and Murphy backstage. Rollins asked him if he was with him.
Murphy asked if he thinks Dominic will show up, and Rollins said he would. That people like that can’t get out of their own way.
Rollins promised that tonight it would be different.
The Messiah speaks
WWE Raw Results and Recap returned from commercial to find Ruby Riott and Bianca Belair chatting with Mark Henry, soaking up some advice.
In the ring, Seth Rollins came out to his usual chorus of boos.
We almost got a blooper when Rollins nearly tripped on the ring steps while climbing into the ring, but alas he made it look effortless.
Rollins then listed how he’s on a roll after defeating Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black on back to back nights. But he’s not.
He said it’s because Dominic Mysterio is there and planned to confront him.
He claimed it’s a recurring theme, as every time the greater good takes two steps forward, someone gets in the way and he must take two steps back.
He pointed out how everyone that’s stood in his way has gotten hurt, going back to Kevin Owens breaking his ankle at WrestleMania 36.
Rollins doesn’t want to be the person that hurts people. “That’s not who the Monday Night Messiah is.”
He promised this time it would be different because he doesn’t want Dominic to jump him from the shadows; he doesn’t want violence.
He then asked Dominic to come to the ring and confront him face to face, man to man. “Let’s talk this out.”
And… Dominic came out as asked but he stayed at the top of the ring.
Rollins promised he wouldn’t hurt him (Murphy was nest to Rollins) and Dominic could come to the ring.
Murphy even held the ropes for him, and Dominic slowly entered.
Rollins said he understood Dominic had things to get off his chest. And if it wasn’t possible for him to articulate his feelings, Rollins promised he was there for Domininc.
Rollins stood with his arms wide, and Dominic took him down, but Murphy attacked him.
The two on one assault continued outside the ring as hey beat Dominic down and threw him into the barrier, then kicked him some more, then into another barrier.
They then launched Dominic into the side of the announcer’s table.
Rollins made a point of saying this wasn’t his fault. He didn’t want it to come to violence.
Help Arrives
As they picked up Dominic, Aleister Black came to Dominic’s rescue, but it didn’t take lng for them to get the upper hand, focusing on Black’s injured right arm.
Murphy hit Black with a knee, then Rollins dragged Black to the center of the floor and Stomped him.
Rollins then took a minute looking at the ring stairs and told Murphy he knew what to do.
Rollins challenged Murphy and slapped him. After more coaxing, Murphy dragged Black to the steps and forced Black’s eye into the corner like Rollins had Mysterio.
Then Rollins sent Murphy after Dominic, but Dominic met them with a kendo stick and wore it out on both of them, sending them running.
