Nothing like another exciting week of Impact Wrestling ahead of us. There’s plenty of excitement in the air, as the promotion looks to have turned their fortunes around with the flick of a switch.
Before Slammiversary, Impact looked like it was limping along, grateful for the chance to be seen. Now, old fans and new are chatting away about what could be after the return of familiar faces.
The infusion of talent was needed as Eric Young, EC3, the Good Brothers, and the Motor City Machine Guns are fan favorites that left for greener pastures.
They’ve bolstered their Knockouts Division, making it arguably the best women’s division in professional wrestling, and that’s saying something.
But this it no time to rest on their laurels, as Eddie Edwards’ weekly defense of the Impact World Championship is a perfect testament to the promotion’s fighting spirit.
We’ve called them the cockroach of professional wrestling for never dying, and now we may se how hard this cockroach bites.

Eddie Edwards title defense
Since winning the Impact World Championship at Slammiversary, Eddie Edwards has pledged to defend the title every week.
This is in stark contrast to the previous champion who reportedly last defended it five months earlier.
Though we don’t think it’s all Tessa Blanchard’s fault (worldwide pandemic played a huge part), but she doesn’t seem to have helped her cause.
In his first title defense, Edwards defeated Trey Miguel of the Rascalz in a fun match that showed each wrestler’s heart.
This week Edwards is slated for another defense, but there’s been no word on who he’ll face as yet.
It could be almost anybody except Eric Young, and there’s a method to this madness.
While Young is intent on torturing Edwards, we feel safe is saying their feud will culminate at the next pay-per-view. Until then, we look for the mind games to continue.
Who will he face?
To be honest, if he wasn’t tied up with the Good Brothers (Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows) we’d say Ace Austin. But since he is, that brings some older names into the picture.
We expect this to be used as a showcase to lift other wrestlers as well as the company, so it wouldn’t surprise us if we se someone unexpected like Wentz or even an old pro like Hernandez or Rhino.
It’s a tough call given how limited the roster is with Wrestle House ongoing, but there’s always a possibility of a surprise.
