Hello everyone and welcome thie week’s WWE Smackdown Live Results and Recap!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and it looks like we’re in for an interesting final night before we head into SummerSlam.
VInce McMahon is expected to open the night, so what better time for Retribution to strike?
Get ready for some fun times.
Segment 1
The opening was impressive with fireworks and all, and Vince McMahon welcomed us before being interupted by the Fiend coming out.
Strowman came out to confront the Fiend, and Retribution circled the ring.
The Fiend disappeared when the lights went out and Retribution overwhelmed Strowman before the locker room came out to help.
Special Note: Sheamus gently guided a couple of Retribution out of the ring and The Miz ran out afterwards. Just saying.
Segment 2
Big E vs. Sheamus
A solid match saw Sheamus in control early on until the lights flickered ala pre-Retribution attack. The locker room is at ringside, so expect something backstage.
Possibly with McMahon.
Segment 3
Sheamus continued to control the match and was ready to hit the Brogue Kick when King Corbin attacke Matt Riddle outside the ring and a brawl ensued.
Big E rolled the distracted Sheamus up for a surprise win.
Jeff Hardy was backstage in the trainers room after someonr hit him from behind. HIs right knee appears to be injured.
Segment 4
Smackdiwn Tag Team Championship – Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro (c) vs. Lucha House Party
A great match on all fronts saw Cesaro roll through Dorado’s hurricanrana attempt for the pin.
Jeff Hardy’s attacker was show to be AJ Styles outside the ring during the opening fight with Retribution.
Segment 5
Mandy Rose spoke abot her upcoming match with Sonya Deville, saying she’s willing to go back to the way they were.
It’s obvious they may change things given Deville’s recent stalker scare, and we’re all for seeing what comes next.
Naomi challenged Bayley and Sasha Banks in a Beat the Clock match, which appears to be next.
Segment 6
Beat the Clock Challenge – Banks defeated Naomi at 3:44, and Naomi defeated Bayley, ensuring Bayley will face Asuka first at SummerSlam.
Jeff Hardy will compete with a knee brace, and Sonya Deville hints that she’ll speak about what happened.
Segment 7
Deville came out and demanded their mach at SummerSlam be a no disqualification match and the loser leaves the WWE.
Gotta wonder if she wants to take a break and this it how it’s being worked in, or if this was preplanned.
Intercontinental Championship – AJ Styles (c) vs. Jeff Hardy.
Segment 8
Jeff came out limping, and it didn’t take Styles long to work on Jeff’s injured right leg.
Styles slammed his leg into the ring apron as we ehaded to commercial.
Segment 9
After accidentally hitting Styles on the head with his knee brace while kicking, Jeff then it a swanton bomb for the win.
This was a cool match that was better than WWE Smackdown Live Results and Recap expected with the “injury.”
Segment 10
Firefly Fun House was a great bit that ended with Wyatt asking, “What kept you?” righ before Strowman attacked him.
Strowman then said he wasn’t finished and dragged Wyatt away.
Segment 11
A brawl backstage between Strowman and Wyatt ended when Strowman chokeslammed Wyatt off a loading bay door.
Wyatt was taken away in an ambulance, but ti stopped and backed up.
THe security team watched in horror as the camera panned back and the Fiend stood on the bumper, laughing manically as the show ended.
We have to admit, this was a hundred times better than we expected, and we’re even more hyped for the Strowman and Wyatt match at SummerSlam.
