Hello everyone and welcome to WWE Smackdown Results! Tonight looks like it’s going to be a fun one with a couple of matches we’re looking forward to.
Hello, my name is…
The show started out with a recap of Roman Reigns’ return on last week’s Smackdown, followed him his Money in the Bank-like signing of his contract to win the Universal Championship at Payback.
Not a surprise give this is the first Smackdown following the Payback pay-per-view, and we’ll hear a lot about Roman Reigns.
Speaking of which, guess who came out to start the show?
Corey Graves said he’s been stonewalled when he’s tried to talk to Reigns, so we may get some answers soon.
I have to admit, the boos pumped in through the PA system add a lot to the Thunderdome concept. Fans have been booing him for the last couple of years, so at least now it works for his character.
Paul Heyman had the microphone and started it off by quoting the Godfather 3 by saying that he was pulled back in by Reigns.
He added that Reigns corrupted him, saving him from the island of irrelevancy because they did the same thing to Reigns that they did to Heyman.
Heyman then asked where all the thank yous and appreciation for all the risks Reigns endured to entertain us over the years, following Seth Rollins’ Monday Night Messiah path to a point.
Heyman then criticized how Reigns’ championship with given to the Fiend and Strowman and called out the WWE for their lack of integrity for not giving the championship back to Reigns.
Heyman said Reigns will do everything bigger and better than everyone else, and that’s why there’s a Fatal Four Way Match tonight for the “sacrificial lamb” for Reigns at Clash of champions.
Heyman then introduced himself officially as the special council for Roman Reigns as Lesnar 2.0 takes the field.
Reigns then said he’s a man of his word and did exactly what he said he’d do at Payback.
He wrecked the Fiend and Strowman and left as the Universal Champion.
“When you have this kind of power, all you got to do is show up and win.”
At least Reigns speaks more than Brock Lesnar.
Not much of a surprise in this storyline so far.
Family support
We came back to Reigns backstage where he was welcomed by Jey Uso.
Uso didn’t seem to realize Reigns is a heel now, and asked him what was with him being with Heyman.
Reigns told him he’s got it under control, and Jey promised to have his back.
Reigns told him he loved him and he’d talk to him later.
WWE Smackdown Results have a funny feeling about this.
