Shotzi Blackheart will host Halloween Havoc later this month, but until then she needs to get in that ring and build back to the top of the division. Tonight, she has a chance to do just that, as she faces the hard hitting Xia Li. Both were in the recent Battle Royal, failing to earn an NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT Takeover 31.
Shotzi Blackheart & Xia Li Have A Brief War
Blackheart got this one started fast with a front dropkick and reverse slingblade, before taking a hard jumping knee to the face. This woke up Xia Li, who came back with some signature hard strikes. A single strike from her is enough to drop most, and she was peppering Blackheart with them as she forced her into the corner.
This would lead them up to the top, where Blackheart hit a front suplex off to the top, and nailed her signature senton for the win. It was a quick one. Afterwards, NXT standout Boa would come to the ring in a sharp suit to hand Xia Li some kind of document, before she followed him to the back. This seems to indicate that Li will get some direction in the coming weeks, instead of just wandering in the undercard. It’s about time, as Li has proven to be ready in the ring for years now.
Blackheart Embodies October
From her tank decorated in Halloween decorations to her overall aesthetic, it’s no wonder Shotzi Blackheart was picked to host the revived Halloween Havoc. This quick win shows that she is taking no prisoners this month, and while she’s the host at Halloween Havoc, who says she couldn’t be in the main event as well?
Her recent non-title match with Io Shirai was excellent, and she took the champion to the limit. There are many looking to get at Shirai and the NXT Women’s Championship, including Ember Moon, Toni Storm, Rhea Ripley, Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez, but don’t overlook Blackheart. It’s a hard division, but quick wins like this don’t go unrecognized.
