There was a major injury that occured on this past week’s episode of NXT, following the match between Danny Burch & Ridge Holland. After putting Burch away with the Northern Grit driver, he decided to attack his opponent a touch more, really sink the message in. This would prompt Oney Lorcan to rush to his best friend’s aid, and a wild brawl would ensue. After a few minutes of back and forth, Lorcan would launch over the top rope, Holland would catch him, and everything went very wrong.
Ridge Hollands Legs Essentially Blew Out
When Holland would catch Lorcan, his right leg would give out, bend in an unnatural way and the former Rugby star would scream out in pain. The referees there for the brawl would be frantic to break everything up, and threw the ‘X’ up with their arms to call for medical aid. After getting checked out by a local hospital, the severity of the injury would be revealed.
Holland suffered an ankle dislocation & fracture in his left leg, with the ankle being relocated in the emergency room. His right leg ended up with a knee patellar dislocation and patellar tendon rupture, with his knee being put back in place at ringside by doctors. He has undergone surgery, and is on the long road to recovery, timeline for return unclear at this time.
Horrible Timing For Holland
While there is never a good time to get injured, this is especially unfortunate for Holland. At NXT Takeover 31, his rise to the top officially began with him getting involved with Undisputed Era. Following the main event between Kyle O’Reilly & Finn Balor, Holland would emerge from the crowd with a beaten down Adam Cole over his shoulder. Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong would rush to their leader’s aid, seeming more suspect than Holland at the time.
On NXT, Holland rolled up in a new car, and it was implied that he was paid to destroy Adam Cole. WWE always had big plans for Holland, and this was the start of his rise to the top of the company perhaps, which will now be heavily delayed. Atleast with him being paid off to attack Cole, his involvement can be wrapped up quick, as he wasn’t the brains behind the operation.
We here at The Overtimer wish Ridge Holland a speedy recovery. Where do you think his storyline was headed? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
