WWE Raw Women’s Champion Asuka has largely dominated the women’s division since winning the title at Money in the Bank.
Even the brief blip of Sasha Banks winning it didn’t last long and the Empress of Tomorrow has accepted any and all challengers no matter the circumstances.
Since it appears she’s worn out the Raw women’s division, we get a Number One Contender Dual Brand Battle Royal.
This makes sense for a lot of reasons, one being it’s easier than building a storyline for Hell in a Cell that’s just a couple of weeks away.
There are plenty of worthwhile potential opponents for Asuka, but there’s one that sticks out and she’s as deserving, if not more so, than anyone else at the moment.
Bianca Belair
Yep, it’s the EST of the WWE.
In short, we think the WWE telegraphed this by miles away with her weekly vignettes showing how strong, intelligent, and fast and athletic she is.
Her build has been painfully slow as she was more of a helper or hanger on during Ruby Riott’s feud with the Iiconics and her feud with Zelina Vega was over in a blink of the eye.
Plus, after her impressive showing at last year’s Royal Rumble, she’s the logical choice.
As far as what’ll happen if she wins, that precedent was set last year when Bray Wyatt won the Universal Championship from Seth Rollins and returned to Smackdown with it.
With Brock Lesnar’s BS squash of Kofi Kingston, it was an easy swap, and we expect the same here.
Possible HIAC endings
That’s if she wins. Which means, Sasha Banks will be signed by Raw as a free agent (she was in the Smackdown pool) tonight and she’ll beat Bayley at Hell in a Cell.
Kinda cool how that works out, huh?
This doesn’t mean all that will happen, but it is possible. This is just how things look from our perspective at the moment.
To be honest, we don’t expect the winner of this battle royal to defeat Asuka, so all of this could be for nothing.
Belair may be on the cusp of superstardom, but will she be handed the keys to the WWE Raw kingdom so quickly?
We never know, but if Belair does win tonight and then defeats Asuka, could Rhea Ripley be getting called up as one of her first feuds?
Plenty of those possibilities that could become realities in the coming weeks.
