There was an action packed night on Raw last night, but one of the most surprising segments of the show involved Retribution, as it seemed as though Retribution were buried after being attacked by The Fiend and The Hurt Business.
Retribution have been built up for a number of weeks now, and despite the WWE dropping the ball with them already, there was still intrigue in the group after it was revealed that Mustafa Ali was their leader. That revelation gave the group a second chance, but after last night, it would seem as though the WWE have already given up on them.
WWE News: The Fiend Attacks Retribution
The show started with a tease between a potential rivalry with The Fiend and Alexa Bliss against Retribution. By the end of the night, it seemed as though that was destined to happen. Of course, there is no shame in being beaten down by The Fiend, as many other superstars have fallen victim. But, it was the manner in which it happened that surprised fans.
The Fiend took out every member of the group and made them look incredibly weak. Of course, they shouldn’t look strong every week, but it’s now hard to remember the last time that the group came across strong at all. The Fiend embarrassed them, and that could mean that the life that was once in the group is now over. But, that beatdown only tells half the story from a truly miserable night for the group.
WWE News: Retribution Beaten Clean
The bad news just kept coming for the group, as they were also beaten easily by The Hurt Business during Raw on Monday night. Worst of all, the loss was a submission to defeat for the group as T-Bar tapped out to Bobby Lashley. The manner of the defeat was a shock, as the group lost their first major match on television and in embarrassing fashion.
The question is certainly where do Retribution go next? It’s hard to build them as monsters now after they have been swatted aside on the season premiere of Raw, but they will need to rebuild before they can realistically compete again on the red brand. It’s too early to say their time has passed, but the clock is certainly ticking as their best-by date gets closer.
