Ember Moon is back in NXT, and is ready to work her way back to the championship she once called her own. This continues this week, as she faces Jessi Kamea. Moon is ready to face everyone, and wants to prove she belongs, this will be a fine way to begin. Kamea isn’t a top name, but she’s a future prospect who could pull off the upset tonight, in Moon’s first singles match back.
Ember Moon Is Here To Show She Still Belongs
They’d circle the ring before locking up. Moon would easily take Kamea down with a hip toss, before letting her back to her feet. She’d proceed to trip Kamea up and mock her, only to be dropped with a hip toss back and a low blockbuster. Moon got fired up, hit a front dropkick, kicked the knee out and dropped Kamea for a running stomp. A standing moonsault would be hit, and Kamea was locked in the middle of the ring with a crossface.
Kamea would roll back into a pinfall to break the hold, but was unable to get back to her feet before being trapped in a modified single leg Boston Crab. Again, she’d find a way out but sending moon into the corner, and dodging a senton. Kamea would get moving and hit a spinning wheel kick and a springboard elbow drop, getting a close two count!
Moon would take to the middle rope and come off with a diving codebreaker, before tying up the legs of Kamea. A camel clutch would be applied, and this submission would end the match. Following the match, Dakota Kai would trip Moon up and boot her in the face, setting up a future match.
A Much Needed Extra Finisher
While The Eclipse is a great finisher, Moon was needing to get another move to go along with it. Especially after her ACL injury, she has had to change up her style.
Adding a grounded submission gives her a safer option, and while the setup is still complicated, Kamea helped to make it look brutal with her flexibility. If nothing else, the tailbone of Moon will thank her in the long run, and this helps make The Eclipse more special when it’s used. Are you happy to see Moon broadening her moveset?
