The one true Cruiserweight Champion is back. While Santos Escobar holds the Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship, Jordan Devlin has the original championship. No one ever beat him to take it, he simply got stuck in the UK and sidelined during what should have been his best year ever.
However, tonight he’s shaking off the ring rust and taking the fight to rookie Levi Muir, but he will have little chance against The Irish Ace himself. Muir had passed up a chance to become an olympic powerlifter to take a shot in WWE, and a win here might make it all worthwhile.
Jordan Devlin Takes His Time
Delvin would quickly take Muir to the mat with a wrist lock into an arm wrench, before casually dumping him over his shoulder to the mat. He’d tell Muir he needs more than that, before they’d lock up once again. Devlin got a headlock, and Muir lifted him up and got free. At this point, the deadly strikes of Devlin came out before gaining wrist control.
Muir thought he got somewhere when he managed to get control, but ate a back elbow as Devlin reminded him that he doesn’t belong in the ring with The Irish Ace. The aggression would keep up with some more elbow strikes and a slap to the face. Devlin had this match fully in his control, and was taking his time. He’d hit a scoop slam, and kick Muir in the head.
Muir came back with a back elbow of his own, getting a uranage into a standing moonsault from Devlin in return. Devlin looked for another slam, as Muir went for a quick roll-up and getting a one count. Another rollup attempt would be countered, and Devlin got back to just beating Muir up.
Muir would counter a sunset flip attempt from Devlin, and show his raw strength as he hoisted him up and went for a Military Press Slam, Devlin countering into a Crucifix Pin. Devlin put his giant head to good use with a headbutt, and hit the Devlin Inside suplex. Not content to have this one end like that, he’d apply a Texas Cloverleaf, and win by submission.
