While it feels more like a collective bad dream, the Lana, Lashley, & Rusev storyline did actually happen. Yes, Rusev did pop out of the cake at the wedding, and yes, Liv Morgan was Lana’s storyline lesbian lover. While that storyline was dropped after tedious months of running, there is intent to pick up one aspect of it. It’s not Lana & Lashley, he’s better off with MVP as his manager, and she’s starting her ascent as a singles star. Instead, WWE has plans to revisit the connection between Lana & Liv Morgan.
Lana Heard WWE Intends To Revisit This Storyline
During an interview with SportsKeeda, Lana would mention what she was told about this potential storyline.
“I love Liv Morgan so much and as you see in that story you know I was excited to do what we did because Liv is one of my best friends and I have been close with her over the years. I could see the story picking up any time, any day. I think it’s a very very compelling story and I would love to revisit it. That’s what I was told, that we are going to revisit it sometime so I’m looking forward to it.”
Lana & Liv Morgan are set to become major stars in the coming years of WWE, but many feel this storyline is something WWE was right to drop.
Does WWE Have The Tact To Pull This Storyline Off?
The main concern fans had about this storyline have not changed. WWE has never been good with tackling issues like sexuality, and while no one expects them to do so on a daily basis, they haven’t shied away from trying in the past with the ill-fated pairing of Billy & Chuck.
It’s one thing to employ and push openly gay or lesbian wrestlers such as Jake Atlas in NXT and Sonya Deville on Smackdown Live. But it’s another altogether to use that for storyline purposes, and not fumble the situation. Again, Billy & Chuck. Everything was going well until a wedding segment with help from GLAAD assistance, only to lie to them about it and use it as a chance to build up 3 Minute Warning.
Should Lana & Asuka win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at TLC, a very likely feud is with Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott.
