A few months back now, it looked as if Kairi Sane was done with WWE. She was written off TV with a brutal attack from then Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley, after having beaten her the previous week in a non-title match. That was all the way back in July of 2020, and Sane has not wrestled since.
Sane has since become a brand ambassador for WWE over in Japan, helping them grow their presence in the region. She remains under contract with WWE, and they recently shut down her trying to return to the ring in Japan. However, after gearing up for a photo shoot, there might be plans for Sane to return to the ring at the Royal Rumble.
Kairi Sane Is Far From Done With Her Career
While a full time run in WWE might be out of the question at this point, as Sane returned to Japan to be able to spend time with her husband? You can’t rule out some special appearances. That’s what makes events like the Royal Rumble so great. Fans miss Kairi Sane, so if her music hits at the event, they’re going to be excited, and her status as a former NXT Women’s Champion makes her a potential winner as well.
Her wanting to wrestle in Japan and being shut down shows that Sane is not done with her in-ring career, but can’t wrestle elsewhere while under contract. WWE might be able to use that to get her back for a few more matches, and having Wrestlemania in a pirate themed arena makes everything better.
A Perfect Challenger For Auska At Wrestlemania
If WWE gets Sane back in the ring at Royal Rumble, and she’s able to win? That sets up a potential dream match for Wrestlemania. Right now, her former Kabuki Warriors tag team partner, Asuka is the RAW Women’s Champion. They have never had a one on one match in their careers, having come up in Japan with different promotions, and being tag team partners in WWE.
This would make a match between Asuka & Sane at Wrestlemania a huge one for many fans, who have been craving this for years. It’s a match that deserves a big stage like Wrestlemania, with an easy story of friends turned rival right there. Plus c’mon! Kairi Sane is the Pirate Princess, the arena for Wrestlemania is shaped like a pirate ship! It’s just all around perfect, with the only wrench being the difficulty of international travel at the current time.
