This match is a foregone conclusion for WWE Raw Preview as Alexa Bliss should win it after last week’s match, but she probably won’t.
We’ve grown accustomed to the WWE messing up wrestler’s runs and builds as evidenced by how Asuka has been a prop for most of her title reign, similar to how Becky Lynch was used for months before she left.
Before that, Asuka was lost in mediocre booking because we’re supposed to pay to see the WWE not a particular wrestler.
So because of that, it’d make sense for Alexa Bliss to win the Raw Women’s Championship tonight and begin a short reign before Asuka wins it back at the Royal Rumble of in a couple of weeks.
Bliss has been built into the Fiendess, but like the Fiend, we don’t see her having a long title run and will be used more to terrorize the women’s division.
The reason we say this is because they’ve hinted at a Charlotte Flair and Asuka feud for the championship the day after they won the tag titles.
That’s an expected WrestleMania match with Flair in the Royal Rumble, but there could always be a twist.
We also expect Asuka to retain simply because she and Flair are the apparent top women in the company as they’re mirroring Bayley and Sasha Banks’ run as champions a few months back.
Bliss should win
With all of that being said, it woud be a huge mistake for Bliss to lose tonight after dominating after going Fiendess last week.
Of course, having her do her change against someone besides the current champion would’ve been nice, like a longer feud with Nikki Cross as Cross tried to save her.
She could’ve worked with other women that we rarely get to see as well, but the WWE has chosen to once again book themselves into a corner.
They’ll either have to make Bliss look weak and have her lose to extend her chasing the title, or have Asuka lose in a competitive match where she sells out to try to retain.
This would keep Asuka looking strong and allow their feud to continue and grow as Asuka has to take her efforts to another level to win the title back.
There’s always the chance of interference from Nikki Cross or another that’s not happy with Bliss.
At the very least, this should be a fun match between two top competitors, assuming they’re allowed to work and close it out instead of a run in or some other weak ending to keep the title on Asuka.
