Big Show has opened up on how Vince McMahon reacted to his switch to AEW that marked an end to 20 years in WWE. The news did come as a surprise, given that Big Show had been such a loyal servant to Vince.
Big Show: Vince McMahon ‘Wished Me A Lot Luck’ After Signing With AEW
But rather than have animosity towards Big Show, Vince was quite the opposite. In an interview, Big Show revealed how Vince wished him the best in his future endeavours. He said: “Vince actually called me the day it was announced that I had signed with AEW. He wished me a lot of luck. He agreed that I am going to be a fantastic asset to AEW, thanked me for all the years I had worked in WWE.”
“There’s no animosity, there’s no anger, there’s no dirt, so to speak.” So what was the reason for the switch? Unlike other previous wrestlers who felt aggrieved by the WWE, Big Show did not have those problems. With time not on his side and a career marked by various accolades, he felt that he needed to make a change to keep that fire burning. And that is exactly what he did.
He added: “Let’s face it, over 20 years in WWE, I have done everything there is to do in WWE. I needed a fresh start, and for me, I think Vince understands that and understand me as a talent, and this was that opportunity for me to do that.”
It seems Big Show has stayed true to those words as he is seeking to expand on his own brand. And with that, follow the footsteps of other greats like Jesse Ventura, who have switched to the analysis side of the sport.
When speaking on his plans for AEW, Big Show said: “[I am] trying to bring my experiences from the ring like a great Gorilla Monsoon or Jesse Ventura were able to bring to commentary to help get the talent in the ring over more, and help tell their stories, I was looking forward to that opportunity.”
Big Show has a lot to live up to, but if anyone can deliver, then it is him. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below. Please also remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
