It has been an excellent couple of months for Roman Reigns, as the Big Dog returned to the company as a monster hell and aligned with Paul Heyman. It was one of the great swerves that fans didn’t see coming last year, and has led to Reigns being the biggest star in the company.
Soon after his return, Reigns became the Universal Champion, and that hasn’t looked like changing despite a number of classic defences over the last couple of months. But, the latest odds have teased that a new champion could soon be crowned.
WWE News: Edge Favourite To Be Next Champion
There are very few surprises at the top of the market, as Edge is the heavy favourite to be the next champion. Fans will be aware that the two superstars are set to square off at WrestleMania next month. Still, the betting odds find it difficult to separate the two stars for the big match, but that could soon change over the next four weeks.
There has been an expectancy over the past couple of months that Edge will win the title from Reigns at Mania, as the huge event will fall on the anniversary of the night when he was forced to relinquish his title due to a neck injury. Edge’s win at the Royal Rumble only furthered the belief that he will win the title, as the emotional story has kept fans engaged throughout. But, could there yet be a twist in the story?
WWE News: Other Likely Contenders
Edge is by far the shortest price for the next champion, but there are a couple of superstars that are also available at single digits. Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins are the two that stand out. Bryan will take on Reigns for the title at Fastlane in a couple of weeks, but the odds don’t give him much hope that he will be coming out of that match with the Universal gold.
Rollins is an interesting name that has been thrown into the mix, as both former Shield brothers are currently heels, which means a storyline between the two would likely need one to turn face. One long-standing selection that is also available at a short price is The Rock, but that will likely mean that Reigns will remain as champion for another year, as the match between the two won’t likely happen until Mania next year.
