The Nintendo Switch has been the best place for retro-style Battle Royales.
Nintendo has had everything from Tetris to classic Mario going Battle Royale. Where you go up against 99 different players. A week before the Mario Battle Royale disappears, we get a new announcement of Pac Man 99.
Pac Man will always be classic and timeless. It’s kind of hard to see it in this form, but looking at the game, it looks to pay some great tribute to the original. They have also included some original features for the new game.
Pac Man 99 is something new.
Unlike a lot of the other Nintendo Battle Royales made from the classics.
It seems like this one has gone through the most changes. The game has had two major changes. One being the Jammer Pac-Mans that slows you down, making it easier to get caught by the Ghost.
Then we have the Sleeping Ghosts that, when eaten, attract the Ghost. When you eat the Ghost, it adds more to the other players. All these new elements seem to be added to make Pac Man 99 more competitive.
What is the next retro to go Battle Royale?
There have been a lot of different classics after this new announcement. It makes us wonder what could be the next. There are a couple of different classics that do come to mind. One of them that stands out is Space Invaders. It feels like it would easily make the transition to the 99 Battle Royale genre.
Other Nintendo classics could also be great to make the transaction to Zelda. It was initially rumoured to be made into the Battle Royale game as part of the 25th anniversary. Making a Zelda game could be the next Nintendo style Battle Royale to be released.
