Aleksandar Rakic wants to fight Prochazka in September:
“Prochazka did great. He knocked out Reyes, so now he’s the main contender and a fight against him makes sense. It’s the best case scenario because it gets me motivated. Now I’m more motivated to get back in the gym and train harder and harder.
Everybody talks about my last fights – they say they were boring, I didn’t knock out my opponents. In the fight with Santos we knew he was dangerous in counterattacks, so I had to hold back. That’s why this fight went the way it did, but a win is a win.
Aleksandar Rakic Calls Out Jiri Prochazka
I know I can knockout, I can finish any fighter in the division. It’s just a matter of time. I don’t want to rush things, trying to get a knockout or a sub, they come by themselves. But I know what I’m capable of. The fight with Prochazka makes the most sense, and the winner will fight for the title.
Jiri is very aggressive, going forward. Good striker, attack oriented. I see some holes in his style, he’s very unconventional and it suits me because I always keep my cool and for every mistake he has to pay.
He doesn’t make many mistakes, but he still does, and if I can catch him at the right moment, there will be a knockout. If not, I’ve been working a lot on wrestling and grappling over the last few years and I can see that I’ll have the biggest advantage in a fight with him. I’ll be ready to go the distance, too, whether it’s five rounds or three. It doesn’t matter.
If the UFC wants to get us a fight in September on the same card as Ian and Glover, that would be great for the division. It all depends on the UFC. There’s a lot of hype around Jiri, and I understand that, he’s done a great job, but someone has to stop that hype.”
