For the last two years, the biggest event in the WWE calendar has been extended over two nights. In 2020 this was due to COVID-19 still being a very new threat, and needing to split the talent up. This year however, fans were back en masse over both nights to Wrestlemania. They were red hot through both three hour shows, and that alone has WWE talent hoping this becomes the default for Wrestlemania.
WWE Talent Prefer Two Shorter Shows Instead Of One Long Marathon
In a report from Fightful Select, WWE staff and talent would mention how much they preferred the two night Wrestlemania. A lack of crowd exhaustion was a major point of favor for just about everyone asked. That same talent is speculating that WWE might try another two night format, and were vocal to management about not wanting anymore shows like Wrestlemania 35, which ran for 7 and a half hours.
By the end, everyone involved was horribly burnt out, from the commentary team to the crowd. This was fairly standard for WWE events pre-pandemic, and a two night format might be for the best with some major shows.
Could We See A Two Night Summerslam?
When it comes to the WWE schedule of PPV’s, only one other show comes close to matching the scope of Wrestlemania. Summerslam is often just as big of an event, and can run just as long; with the added damage of summer heat making everyone even more tired. If Wrestlemania can be two nights, so can Summerslam.
WWE has more than enough talent and title belts to promote two main events like they did with Wrestlemania for Summerslam. It allows more talent to get on the card, and thus fans have a better chance to see their favorites get to shine on a major stage. This years Summerslam seems to only be one night, set for Saturday, August 21st in Allegiant Stadium, a major stadium in Las Vegas.
If WWE runs another successful two night Wrestlemania, they could see the potential of spreading other shows out. What events could you see turned into two nights? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
