Last night following the excellent main event on WWE NXT, which saw Kyle O’Reilly narrowly defeat NXT Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA, a new faction was unveiled. After weeks of teasing, we would finally see the debut of The Diamond Mine. It wasn’t Tessa Blanchard or Parker Bordeaux, but rather a faction consisting of Roderick Strong, Tyler Rust, Hideki Suzuki and manager Malcolm Bivens. While most fans of NXT will absolutely know Roderick Strong, with him being an ex-member of The Undisputed Era, the other three aren’t as well known to fans. Let’s break down who they are!
Hideki Suzuki Is One Of The Hardest Hitters You Will Find
The most unknown to NXT fans is Hideki Suzuki, as this was his debut and he didn’t get named by commentary. Suzuki is a student of UK legend Billy Robinson, and one of the best catch wrestlers in the industry today. Having worked mainly as a freelancer in Japan, he’s been in companies like Zero1 & Big Japan Wrestling, while also having occasionally seen in the United States through appearances with companies like Game Changer Wrestling.
His debut instantly caught the attention of the NXT North American Champion, Bronson Reed, who stated: “That man on the right is a dangerous, dangerous man. Things just picked up.” And Reed wasn’t the only champion interested, as NXT UK Champion WALTER has been wanting a match with Suzuki since 2018, and simply said “Hideki?”
Suzuki was initially signed to NXT as a trainer for the Performance Center. But he still has plenty left in the tank, so we’re going to be getting some hard hitting action very soon. Expect more Minoru Suzuki than Kenzo Suzuki here.
Tyler Rust & Malcolm Bivens Vanished For A While
Meanwhile, Rust & Bivens were already on their way to becoming an established act in NXT. Rust signed around the same time as MSK, and made his debut as part of a Thatch-as-Thatch-Can segment with Timothy Thatcher, before impressing against Tommaso Ciampa. Bivens would get him as a client following the flop that was Indus Sher, and they picked up some steam before vanishing around early 2021. Rust is an incredible technical wrestler, and a natural fit for a faction like Diamond Mine.
Add in the NXT veteran Roderick Strong, and we have three very dangerous men and the best manager in the game today. Are you excited for Diamond Mine in NXT after their reveal? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
