Recently on Monday Night RAW, Kofi Kingston took aim once again at the WWE Championship. It’s currently held by Bobby Lashley, who is finally done dealing with Drew McIntyre following a brutal Hell in a Cell contest. Just one day later, he re-entered the structure to send a message to Kofi Kingston, when he dismantled Xavier Woods. Tomorrow night on Monday Night RAW, this storyline pushes forward as we get closer to Money In The Bank. However, we’re not getting a simple one on one rematch, but rather the in-ring return of MVP.
MVP Blew His Knee Out Five Months Ago
While MVP never left TV, having settled into a purely managerial role over the past few months, he hasn’t wrestled a match since February. That was when he injured his knee while taking part in a six man tag team match alongside now former Hurt Business members in Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander. He suffered a blown out knee, and would use a cane in recent months while moving around.
It fit his character and fans quickly accepted it as part of the show. However, back during Hell in a Cell, he would be able to make his way around the ring without the cane, and even get into the match and get dropped by McIntyre. That was a good sign, and now MVP has been cleared to make his way back into the ring once again.
How Much More Will MVP Have In The Ring?
At this point, MVP is 47 years old. He already considered retirement a year ago after his Royal Rumble return and a final singles match with Rey Mysterio. This has since blossomed into one of the best runs in recent WWE, where he took Bobby Lashley to the level fans have wanted him at for years. However, any more injuries and WWE might lose trust in MVP getting into the ring anymore.
This wouldn’t be a bad thing inherently. It would simply mean he gets to be the best manager this side of Paul Heyman, something which can benefit just about anyone in the WWE right now. We will have to see how he does tomorrow on Monday Night RAW, as he teams with Bobby Lashley to face The New Day in tag team action.
