It seems like a lot of changes are coming to AEW to push it to another level. One of these is now being heavily teased by AEW and confirmed by other sources that CM Punk will sign with AEW or has already signed. The place has been set for his debut as well, with the second episode of Rampage set in Chicago and called the Last Dance.
The name alone is a tease for CM Punk as he has been posting on social media that hint at his last dance of sorts with a connection to Michael Jordan and the documentary that follows his last year in the Chicago Bulls. All of this is hinting that The Last Dance show is going to be the debut of CM Punk.
Pushing CM Punk to the top over feuds
Now that the tiles have been set, it looks like storylines are changing. One of these being the card for All Out what is also in Chicago. It seems like All Out would be the PPV where Kenny Omega and Hangman Paige would lock horns.
After last week’s episode of Dynamite and confirmation by Dave Meltzer. This match has now been changed and will not take place at All Out. Making it look like the match set for All Out could be CM Punk at the top of the card against Kenny Omega rather than Hangman Adam Page.
Changing that special something for CM Punk
If this is true and it leads to CM Punk winning the belt from Kenny Omega. It bypasses many of what makes AEW special. One of these being the fact that no matter what your status as a Legend or not. They have to win matches before going for the belt.
So CM Punk goes into AEW and somehow mains events All Out for the AEW championship against Kenny Omega. It’s possible that massive stone in the road for AEW. If we look back on it in the future, could be something that sets the company back rather than forward.
