Last week, Dakota Kai would finally snap. She was overlooked as a challenger due to being the best friend of Raquel Gonzalez. Kai knew that if she wanted to get to the top of the NXT Women’s division, she needed to take Gonzalez down, and one well placed kick did this. Tonight, she will fully explain her reasoning, but it seems like a fairly simple situation.
Dakota Kai Is The Reason Gonzalez Became A Star
We’d get a recap of what happened. Kai claimed that as long as she has the back of Gonzalez she will always be champion, before stabbing her in the back by kicking her cross the face. Kai would say that 18 months ago she needed someone she could trust. Raquel Gonzalez was crushing records backstage, but was lost in the shadows of NXT.
Without Kai bringing her out during her No Holds Barred match with Tegan Nox, Gonzalez would still be in the back. The plan was simple. Gonzalez stays behind and deals with the people in Kai’s way. She did this with everyone from Tegan Nox, Mia Yim, Rhea Ripley and more. However, Kai was sick of being overlooked and refused to give her the shot at the NXT Women’s Championship when Io Shirai offered.
Not Wanting To Get Lost In The Growing Shadow Of Raquel Gonzalez
She was even the reason Gonzalez was able to win, and even as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions? Gonzalez wasn’t putting in her effort. She got what she wanted. Kai was suddenly the sidekick of Gonzalez, and was not happy in that role. So she kicked the head of Gonzalez off.
Gonzalez claimed there was no one left, but she overlooked Kai. Now, that will be the worst mistake that she will ever make. This storyline has been brewing for 18 long months, and it’s ready to hit it’s fever pitch. The reign of Raquel Gonzalez has failed to really impress fans so far, but this is the storyline it was all building up to.
